Efficacy and Benefits of Robusta Coffee



Robusta Coffee is a descendant of several species of coffee, especially Canephora Coffee. It grows well at height of 400-700 m above sea level, the temperature of 21-24° C with a dry season of 3-4 months in a row and 3-4 times the rain submissions.

Robusta coffee is a type of coffee that found in 1870s, growth wild in Congo. Approximately 26% of world trade consists of Robusta Coffee beans. Now Robusta coffee is cultivated mainly in West Africa and Southeast Asia. Robusta tree is growth plant at low elevations (sea level to 600 m), moisture resistant and more resistant to disease than Arabica coffee. Robustas mature in about half time required Arabica coffee and produces almost twice as much coffee fruit.

Unlike Arabica beans, Robusta beans not fall from the tree when cook, so they doesnt need to immediately harvest. Robustas also used for commercially canned coffee and instant coffee. Because cheaper cost of production, Robustas sometimes combined with Arabica coffee to get the strong coffee aroma as well as low levels of caffeine.

Shape of robusta coffee is smaller than coffee arabica and robusta coffee its higher levels of caffeine if compared with arabica coffee. and arabica coffee prices are much higher when compared with robusta coffee.

Characteristics
Habitus  : Shrubs, annual, ± 5 m high.
Stem       : Woody, hard, erect, white to ash-gray.
Leaf        : Single, oval, shiny, pointed tip, flat edge, blund base, 5-15 cm long, 4 to 6.5 cm wide, adventure pinnate, 0.5-1 cm long slender, green.
Flowers  : Compound, an umbrella shape, axillary, sharing five petals, green, star-shaped crown, white, five stamens, stem white sari, a long black anthers  ± 3 cm pistil, anthers brown white.
Fruit       : Round eggs, Â ± 5 mm in diameter, young green after dark red.
Seeds      : Round eggs, split in two, hard, dirty white.
Roots      : Stables, light yellow.

Chemical Content
Coffee leaves contain alkaloids. saponins, flavonoids and polyphenols.

Efficacy

Coffee beans are efficacious for the prevention of poisoning Tempe Bongkrek, cough medicine, powerful medicine and urine laxative.
To prevent poisoning Tempe Bongkrek used  ± 5 grams of coffee beans, filtered and pounded until smooth, brewed with 1/2 glass hot water boiled and then filtered, the filter results while drink.
